The Denver HIV Resources Planning Council Seeks New Members!
The Denver HIV Resources Planning Council (DHRPC) is looking for committed individuals, including dynamic people living with HIV (PLHIV) who want to make a positive impact in our community.

Working closely with the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment’s HIV Resources Office, the Planning Council is a diverse group of PLHIV, community members, and service providers who come together to address the needs of PLHIV in the Denver Metro Area.
​
The DHRPC serves the following six counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson.​

the HIV community, including but not limited to:

PLHIV who receive or have received Ryan White services

Women living with HIV

PLHIV from federally recognized Indian tribes in Colorado

Young adults living with HIV (18+)

PLHIV with Hepatitis C

PLHIV experiencing homelessness

PLHIV who were previously incarcerated
Application Process:
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit an online application and resume on the City of Denver's Boards and Commissions Application page (select HIV Planning Council) and email the Denver Office of HIV Resources at dhrplanningcouncil@denvergov.org.

Onboarding Process:
New members complete an onboarding process that prepares them to participate effectively in meetings, make informed decisions, and understand the history of advocacy led by People Living with HIV (PLHIV). The training also introduces the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, including its service categories and standards that guide service delivery and inform Planning Council decision-making.

Planning Council Responsibilities:
The Planning Council plays a critical role throughout the year, including evaluating the needs of PLHIV through data analysis, assessing service delivery effectiveness, and determining funding allocations for essential healthcare services like hospital visits, mental health services, dental care etc., as well as support services beyond HIV-specific care such as support groups, housing, and food bank services.
The Planning Council also advises on the Colorado HIV/AIDS Strategy (COHAS), which outlines treatment and prevention strategies for the state.
Term Limits and Attendance Rules: ​
Planning Council members are appointed to a three-year term by the City of Denver's Mayor's Office. Applicants should be prepared to commit to two two-hour meetings per month, along with additional training sessions and special meetings as necessary. Transportation assistance and childcare may be available upon request for PLHIV. Planning Council member's serve on a volunteer basis.
